Thomas D. Cronk

Jun 18, 1944 — Oct 2, 2026

French Island, WI

Thomas David Cronk, 82, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Tom was born on June 18, 1944, in La Crosse, Wisconsin, to Warren and Clara Cronk. He was the second youngest of fourteen children and grew up surrounded by the values of hard work, family, and faith that would guide him throughout his life.

In July of 1962, Tom married the love of his life, Barbara (McIntire) Cronk. Together they built a beautiful life and shared more than six decades of love, laughter, and devotion. Their greatest pride was their family. Tom and Barb were blessed with five children: Brenda (Kevin) Stuhr, Jeff (Shelly) Cronk, Dan (Chris) Cronk, Donna (Howard) Swyers, and Sara (Seth) Camp. Tom was a proud grandfather to Nathan (Hailey) Stuhr, Mandy (Chris) Becker, Kristin (Curt) Radde, Caryn (Shawn) Regenauer, Cassie (Josh) Klopotek, Joshua Cronk, Alex Cronk, Maggie Cronk, Gracie Cronk, Sam Swyers, Ryan Swyers, Logan (Sammie) Camp, and Colin Camp. He was also blessed with eleven great-grandchildren who brought him endless joy.

At the age of 18, Tom began working at Roth's Flor Mart, where his dedication and work ethic eventually led him to become a part owner. He took great pride in his work and earned the respect of everyone who knew him. Tom enjoyed many things throughout his life. He loved hunting and fishing with his family, bowling, playing pool, cards, and spending time over coffee with his good friend Rich. He was a loyal Wisconsin sports fan who rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on the Packers, Brewers, and Badgers.

Those who knew Tom knew that he could do just about anything and often did it better than most. When a project was finished, he would grin and say, "Good enough for who it's for." He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved making people laugh, especially his children and grandchildren. Though he was typically quiet and humble, he became a little more competitive around the card table. And no one, according to family legend, could beat him in a scale-squeezing contest. More than anything else, Tom loved his family. His greatest happiness came from being surrounded by those he loved, whether hunting or fishing, around the table playing cards, or simply sharing stories and laughter.

Tom was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Brenda, his parents, Warren and Clara, and ten siblings. He leaves behind a family that adored and treasured him; his loving wife, Barbara; his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and 3 siblings, all of whom were blessed by his love, generosity, wisdom, and quiet strength. While our hearts are broken, we find comfort knowing that Tom is reunited with his baby girl, dancing together in Heaven. His love, laughter, wisdom, and unwavering devotion to family will remain with us always. He was deeply loved, will be greatly missed, and will never be forgotten.

"Well done, good and faithful servant."
