Robert “ Bob “ Fowler, 86, of LaCrescent, MN passed away peacefully at Brookdale Memory Care on May 11th, 2026 with family at his side
Bob was born in a country home of very humble beginnings in March 1940. He entered the Air Force after high school. Shortly after his return home, he met Catherine Fowler at a local country store. I guess you could say they “ran off” and got married. Bob was a devoted and loving husband for 61 years.
Always friendly and pleasant, there was never a bad word from Bob. Truly a life well spent and built, Bob made many courageous career decisions. He followed his brother to Montana to log, later moving to the Iron Range to work for the Reserve Mining Company. He reached his dream of becoming a pilot and flew for Viking Freight before eventually flying for Sun Country Airlines. He will also be remembered by family and friends for hosting the annual deer hunt. It was always so much fun.
After his retirement, Bob immersed himself in learning how to maintain his apple orchard in LaCrescent. He had a knack for growing wonderful flowers and vegetables as well. It was truly amazing watching the many hummingbirds that would visit his patio feeders year after year.
He is survived by his wife Catherine, nieces and nephews Michelle Fowler, Randy Fowler, Mark Taft, Barry Taft, Kim Koski, Jeanie Wood, and Bart Basinski, as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Ruth, sisters Florence, Ruth and Mary, brother Roland (“Charlie” and nephew Roland Jr.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be announced at a later date.
